Privacy & terms
Short and honest: we collect only what is necessary, we don’t track you, and we show no ads. The details are below.
Last updated: 2 July 2026
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the publisher of Figure Out Science (Leszek Domagała). For anything privacy-related, write to [email protected].
Newsletter
If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address and a record of your consent. Signing up requires confirmation (double opt-in) — you won’t be added to the list until you click the confirmation link.
The list is run on MailerLite (MailerLite Inc. / UAB “MailerLite”, EU). We use it only to tell you about new articles. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click — the link is in every email.
Payments and support
Payments are handled by Stripe acting as the merchant of record — Stripe collects the payment, issues the receipt and settles taxes. We never see or store card numbers.
From Stripe we receive basic details of your support (name, email address, amount), which we use to manage your subscription. Your name appears on the supporters page only with your consent.
You can cancel a supporter subscription at any time — via the link in your payment receipt or by writing to [email protected]. For refunds, get in touch; one-off support (“coffee”) is generally non-refundable unless the law says otherwise.
Analytics without tracking
We measure traffic with Cloudflare Web Analytics — a tool that uses no cookies, builds no user profiles and does not follow you across the web. We only see aggregate numbers: visits, popular pages, country and browser type.
We use no advertising or tracking cookies. The site shows no ads.
Email contact
Messages sent to [email protected] are forwarded via Cloudflare Email Routing to a Gmail inbox (Google). We use your correspondence only to reply to you.
Processors we rely on
The site is run with the help of: Cloudflare (hosting, analytics, email routing), MailerLite (newsletter), Stripe (payments) and Google (mailbox). Each processes data under its own GDPR-compliant agreements and safeguards.
Your rights
Under the GDPR (and UK GDPR) you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Just email [email protected] — we respond without undue delay.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
How long we keep data
Your newsletter email — until you unsubscribe. Payment records — for as long as tax and accounting rules require (held mainly by Stripe).
Content and copyright
Figure Out Science articles and interactive illustrations are protected by copyright. You are welcome to use them for your own learning and to share links; copying or republishing the content requires our permission — write to [email protected].
All content is educational. We work hard to keep it accurate (sources, verification dates), but it does not constitute professional advice.
Changes to this document
We will announce significant changes on this page by updating the date above. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept them.
